Personal Profile
Experienced Systems Architect with extensive expertise in the following areas:
• Translating technical requirements into conceptual designs with formats to be usable by product designers, implementers and testers
• Making the translation from international and industry standards to products and product components under development
• Designing protocols and algorithms to control real time behavior of complex systems including multiple units interoperating over unreliable (wireless) links
• Designing protocol stack multi-thread architecture and inter-thread messaging
• Identifying patentable aspects of system design and preparing invention disclosure material and explaining the concepts to patent lawyers
Goals
My goals are:
• To analyse requirements and write architecture and design specifications, in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of system architects, technical experts, hardware and software implementers, protocol and conformance testers.
• To become expert in a number of technical areas.
• To use methods such as UML and associated tools as integral element of the produced specifications
• To be involved in the whole development cycle from requirements establishment to conformance testing

Work Experience
2012 –2014 Teleena B.V. – Nieuwegein, Netherlands
Function: SIM / OTA Specialist
Responsibilities: Design the electrical content of SIM Cards according to the requirements of MVNO Customers of Teleena.
Maintain technical contact with the SIM manufacturers to keep up to date with new technological developments.
Achievements: Set up reference model for Teleena’s SIM approaches.
Set up Security System for SIM production and provisioning.
Training on topics NFC and LTE for future use within Teleena.

2004 – 2010 Motorola Mobile Devices – Nieuwegein, Netherlands
Function: Senior Systems Architect for 4G Wireless Technologies
Responsibilities: System architecture specification in support of embedded software development for integrated circuit development for 4G Wireless Telephones. The 4G technology areas addressed include the MAC layer of 802.16 (WiMAX) from 2004 till 2008 and Layer 2 of 3GPP-LTE from mid 2008 till 2010. Specialization in the security provisions in these protocol layers.
Working with hardware (ASIC, RF) and software engineers to translate requirements and standards into feasible designs.
Working with software engineers to debug and test subsystem implementations.
Securing Dutch government subsidy (WBSO).
Achievements: System Architecture Specification of WiMAX MAC-layer embedded software system.
Functional Designs Specifications of WiMAX Key Management subsystem for PKM V2.
Functional Design Specifications of WiMAX Transmit Power Control subsystem.
System Architecture and Functional Design of 3GPP-LTE PDCP layer.
System Architecture and Functional Design of 3GPP-LTE Cryptographic subsystem using dedicated Cipher Engine.
2000 – 2004 Agere Systems (former Lucent Technologies) – Nieuwegein, Netherlands
Function: Manager Systems Architecture and Standards for WiFi Systems
Responsibilities: Leading a team of System Architects and System Engineers supporting various projects in Wireless LAN (WiFi) hardware and software development. The projects involved enhancements of the first generation of Agere products based on the IEEE 802.11(b) standard and development of a next generation products supporting the 802.11 a and g standards as well as early versions of the other enhancements of the 802.11 standard for security (TKIP), quality-of-service and spectrum management.
Participating in the IEEE 802.11i (Security) and 802.11k (Measurement) task group meetings to serve the interest of Agere Systems and to participate in industry initiatives to develop pre-standard systems.
Submitting invention disclosure records to Agere Systems patent department on topics related to the 802.11 standard but not (yet) covered by this standard.
Achievements: Product release of new family of Agere products based on a new version of the MAC controller (Hermes 2) with better performance and more capabilities.
New suite of system algorithms for the higher speed product family based on the 802.11a and g standard. Incorporated and still under development in the joint development of Agere Systems with Infineon.
Patent applications for carrier detect thresholds, data rate control algorithms, new power management schemes and roaming algorithms.
1992 – 2000 NCR / AT&T / Lucent Technologies – Nieuwegein, Netherlands
Function: Manager Software Development and System Testing WaveLAN
Responsibilities: Leading a team of Software Developers, System Architects and System Testers for the WaveLAN I and WaveLAN II and ORiNOCO product lines.
Achievements: The first complete system release of the NCR WaveLAN (I) product, including NICs, Access Points and roaming software (WaveNET).
The transition and functional enhancements to develop a version of WaveLAN that is compliant with the IEEE 802.11 standard and the 802.11b standard.
Participation in technical committee of WECA, which developed the WiFi test suite for interoperability between vendors.
Interactions with large number of OEM customers of WaveLAN products (IBM, Apple, Dell, Compaq).
Patent applications for early power management schemes and roaming methods.
1979 – 1992 NCR Systems Engineering Lab – Utrecht, Netherlands
Function: System Architect
Responsibilities: Preparing System Architectures for various development projects and in some occasions doing the associated software development projects.
Member of NCR System Architecture Board of NCR's Financial Systems division.
Achievements: - Airline passenger handling system (Concept phase)
- Voice response system based on touch-tone inputs
- Network Management of NCR systems from IBM mainframes
- Software Distribution to NCR systems from IBM mainframes

1975 – 1979 NCR Systems Engineering Lab – Utrecht, Netherlands
Function: Software Developer / Team Leader
Responsibilities: Designing, coding and testing communication drivers for first generation of microcomputers (Intel 8080) and NCR minicomputers. Assembler level programming.
From 1977 onwards, leading a team of 3-6 programmers involved in the coding of communication protocols.
Achievements: Various basic mode communication drivers (Binary Synchronous, Teletype, …) released both for Intel 8080 and for NCR's own mini-computer family.
Support for NCR's Financial Systems and Retail Systems divisions.
